Pedal cars and stars....

July is one of my favorite months.
Not only is it my mom's and brother's birthday month,
but also the month when we celebrate our country's independence.

I don't normally make cards for this occasion,
but our campground is hosting a Christmas in July
so I made a few cards to hand out to the seasonal campers.

Although this is a relatively simple card, I loved the end result.
The back is computer generated.
The front consists of 4 blue scallop squares
covered by a red plaid mat with punched corners.
The boy in the pedal car is from ACY and the star is Home Decor.
My signature MS branch punch adorns the top.

I hope my camping friends enjoy this little gift!

Shake it up!

Remember that oldie but goodie song from The Cars - "Shake it up!" ?
When I saw some of this week's challenge theme,
this tune stuck in my head.  Thus, it was the idea behind this fun summer card.

I started with a gate-fold card in black
and added copper metallic mats.
The diner from Mickey and Friends is the main image,
with a cool shake and scrumptious burger from Carousel and Block Party.

The ticket stub is on a hand-made "wobble" for motion,
and the shake and burger are popped for dimension.

The inside image is computer generated and mimics
the old fashioned malt shop of years gone by.

An excerpt from the Cars, "Shake It Up" is on the inside flap,
while the sentiment, "When was the last time you did something for the first time?"
is on the bottom.

When this is folded up, the diner fits behind the milkshade
to help hold this card closed.
This could be used for a birthday, encouragement,
or just because card.

I will be entering this in the following challenges for this week:

Hope you liked it!

Enjoy the little things...

I made this card for my son.
Although this is his 2nd Father's Day, Lil Maddix has
just turned 1 year old so it will be much more meaningful for him.

As we all did when we were new parents,
we sometimes forget to see the forest for the trees -
hence, my theme for this year's card.
The cuts are from Camp Out and the
circle sentiment is computer generated in WORD.
A few small gem stones for stars, a small tag for embellishment,
and the front of this card is complete.

Some "popping" for added dimension...

My personal sentiment...
(I did get a bit teary-eyed!)
and this card has already hit the mailbox!

Ahrrrrr.....the Captain is in!

Captain Maddix has turned 1 year old!
As first mate and Grandma,
I made the birthday banner to coordinate with the invitations
that were sent out earlier.

The banner itself was hand-cut.
The letters were cut from Mickey Font using glitter papers,
and the circles are PS.
A larger version of the Pirate used on the invites were added to the ends,
as were the skull and crossbones.  They were all cut from PDDU.
After using a paper trimmer to make the slits,
a red glitter ribbon was used to string it all together.

Now here is the part where my DH comes in -
I am NOT one for the tedious items like cutting the slits,
making sure they are all the same, and lacing the ribbon -
so in these times of trouble, my DH comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom......so I let him be!
Being an Engineer, he is quite fond of that part and is always
willing to help me in my time of need.

A matching recycled Red Lobster gift bag held a special surprize.

This was a great child's "Pirate" themed party that
very easy to coordinate and make.

I will be entering this in the Mission Impossible Challenge
at Krafty Girls

Pack your bags!

Here is another recycled Red Lobster gift bag.
I know I will need this later on in the season,
so I decided to make it now to coincide
with a couple of this week's challenges.

All of the cuts are from the PYB cart.
There are so many cute images that it was hard to pick
which ones I truly wanted to use.
I did a lot of embossing and used a metallic hologram paper
to give this drab brown bag some pop.
Don't you just love those tropical flowers!

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Paper Playtime - Vacation
Ginger Snap Scraps - Color Challenge: Teal, Yellow, Purple

I think this is such a great way to reuse those bags that
most of the time just get tossed out...
and look how cute it is!  I would love to get one!

Remember when....

I came up with this design after trying an image I saw
I thought this would be a wonderful idea for a
Father's Day or birthday card,
so I started my attempt at making the Viewmaster Card image.

The Viewmaster Card was created in SCAL.
Although it is not exactly the same as the example,
I am pleased with the way it turned out.
The circle sentiment was created in WORD,
the banner was hand-cut,
and the telephone and truck are from the Heritage cartridge.
Rounded corners, CB embossing, metallic accent strips,
baker's twine, and a button finish off this nostalgic card front.

A repeat of the color scheme in used on the inside.
An original sentiment, accent twine, and a punched mat
finish off the inside of this Father's Day card.
I will be entering this card in the following challenges:
Go Fish - Sketch challenge for Father's Day
