A Valentine Mini

Here is my little Valentine Mini!
I made this to put in my DH's lunch box.
I know it'll make his day when he finds it,
if not make him the brunt of some jokes from the boys!

This little easel card measures 3x3" when closed
I started with a pink 3x6" card base to make the easel.
I cut the front mat 1/4" smaller and embossed it with a
love bird CB folder.
The fancy frame and bird on a branch are free SVG cuts.
I also embossed the frame with a paisley folder and
the bird with swiss dots.
I embellished the rounded front corners with small diamond-like gems.

I added a sentiment in the hidden fold,
cut a red mat and embossed it with "I love you,"
added a white mat embossed with "my lips,"
and added a hint of color with ink.
A finishing touch with the pink ribbon and the matching gemstones,
and my project is complete!

I hope he likes it!
TFL and Happy Valentine's Day to you!

Nothing like the great outdoors!

I have to tell you that so many "firsts" went into this project.
It is my first shadowbox and it is the first time that I tried the
dryer sheet technique that I found on Splitcoaststampers.com.

I cut the base @ 4 1/2 x 11" and added the rectangle window in DS.
Now that I have the saved file, it will be a snap to create another one.

I made this one specifically for the Cooking with Cricut challenge this week:
Anything but a card, and use yellow and polka dots.
This is my design creation in an "outdoors" theme.

The background was stamped and colored with markers.
I added the dryer sheet, trimmed it, and then added white glitter.
It gives it a misty look with a hint of sparkle....cool!

I use the MS branch punch for "brush" and added a mama bear and
two cubs in the foreground.
The Happy Camper sign is from Campin' Critters,
and black polka dots finish off the frame.
I have to say....I really like the 3-D look.
This may end up in our camper when the season starts.
I have the perfect place for it.

Art in my Heart!

This is my 1st Valentime card using my new Art Nouveau cart.
I love the images!  If you do not own this one,
think seriously about getting it.
This is really a Thank You card for being a wonderful Mother.

I started with forest green card stock and used the "Z fold."
This card was made around the rose cut from the AN cart.
I then added half-circles in larger increments,
embossed the white and red layers while inking the pink.

I found a coordinating paper from my scrap stack,
punched the edge for a more elegant look,
added a brown ribbon, and layered the rose cut on the top.
To finish off the front, I added some hearts from the Sweethearts cart.

The inside has the same coordinating red-toned paper,
matted papers with a rounded edge,
the Valentine verse for MOM,
more swirls hearts and small gems for some added elegance.

This is a great fold and will stand alone for display.
There are a ton of extras on this card and the "popped" images make it dimensional.
I hope my Mom like this!

You're my hero!

I have had the BatMan cart for a few months now,
and have yet to use it.  While the challenge at My Craft Spot to make
a card for a man was my inspiration for this project, and being that
I have a hero to make a Valentine for, it was a perfect fit.

I started with a white cardstock base and matted it with
a 5x7" blue speckled paper.
The logo was cut @ 4", Batman @ 7", POW! / ZAP! @ 1 1/2",
word bubble @ 5", and the Joker @ 4 1/2".

The sentiment was printed on light blue card stock,
and the left inside was made up of left-overs from another project.
I think this card is really cool, and would be great for a man or a boy.....
especially, if they are your HERO!
This card would also be great for a birthday or just because!

Happy Valentine's Day

Gone Fishin'

My BIL has just had knee surgery and is in the recovery stage.
Since he loves to fish and has a teardrop trailer,
I thought this would start him thinking
of getting back into the swing of things once he is able to get up and around.

The camping trailer is PYB and all of the other cuts are CC.
Of course, this is my favorite easel card,
and he can display it while he dreams of warmer weather!

I used a lot of silver metallic paper to give this project shine.
The tree tops, sign, trailer, and pond surface have all been embossed
with CB folders.
As you can see, most of the images are popped to add
a 3-D look to the card.
The inside mat is from a DCWV paper stack and has the look of leaves.

I will add a personal humorous "get well" sentiment to the inside fold
to finish it off.
I am so pleased with the outcome and CC and PYB are fast
becoming two of my favorite carts.

Cool it!

Back again with a Nifty 50s gift bag.
All cuts are from this cart.
Silver metallic paper is the hit of this design.
It provides the added shimmer needed to make this cool treat yummy!

Just a cute bag for just about any occasion!

Shabby Chic Valentine Heart

This will be my hubby's card for this Valentine's Day.
He is so supportive of my creative talents and always makes a fuss
over the projects I create, even though some of them are less than perfect.

This card starts with the Damask Decor cart, and I chose the heart design.

I started with a brown/gold toned paper from KC&CO,
and added ecru ribbon on the side.
I embellished the ribbon with a swirl from the HD and a
small heart flower from Sweethearts which has a gem for its center.
I also added a tag with a fleur de lis image to finish off the left side.
The main image is popped, embossed, layered, and blinged with gems.

The main card base for the easel card is another paper from KC&CO.
If I haven't told you yet, this is another easel card...my favorite!
The inside is simple, and the cuts are from Sweethearts.
The sentiment mat is popped and layered in 1/4" increments.
A personal message will be added and the inside will be complete.

Although this has "girly" things on it....I think this card will suit a man very well.

Happy Valentine's Day!

My Favorite Things....

I was asked to be a guest designer for FCCB!
This is so exciting and I have been searching my brain for a special design,
and so I chose "My Favorit Things" as my theme.
I used several cartridges to complete my project.
Tree Winter Woodland @ 3 1/2
Snowman Winter Woodland @ 3
Mittens Winter Woodland @ 1 3/4
Sled Speaking of Winter @ 2 1/2
Snowflake Damask Décor @ 2 3/4
Copper Kettle Campin' Critters @ 1 1/4
Jingle Bell Christmas @ 1 1/4
Gift Christmas @ 1 1/4
Rose 50 States @ 1 1/4
Horses Rubber stamp from JoAnne Crafts
Small snowflake Fiskars punch
The white card front mat was embossed with the CB snowflake folder to start. Green baker's twine was added to the top and all images were popped to add dimension.

Silver metallic paper was used to make the tree shine, a small green gem embellishes the snowflake, shimmery silver memory thread
holds the mittens together,
and small silver snowflakes add more sparkle.
The song lyrics, "My favorite things," come from the Rogers and Hammerstein hit, "The Sound of Music," and along with my own saying; make up the inside sentiments.
I then chose items from the song itself to adorn the rest of the card's interior.
I think this would make the perfect birthday, just because, or pick-me-up card.

You Bowl Me Over!

Although my hubby is not a bowler, I loved this image on the
Nifty Fifties cart and used it as the base for my "regift" bag.

The pin and funky shape is Nifty 50s while the font is PS.
The red background is a scrap piece that has been border punched
and blinged with a few small gems.
The pin and bowling ball are embossed and popped.

Now to find something to go inside this birthday gift bag!

A Get-Well Operation...

Maddix' next installment in the scrapbook he received for Christmas.

This poor little guy had surgery two days before Christmas 2011.
Although, I am sure he doesn't want to remember this day,
the LO below was made to commemorate his day at the hospital.
Santa came in for a visit before it all started....Maddix is still uncertain
as to how he feels about the bearded wonder!

Snowflake with Damask Decor

I just received this cart for Christmas from my DH and could not wait to try it!
This is also my first time making a solid front tri-fold card,
and I sove the design.
Some of the colors in the photos do not show up as rich as they really are.

The snowflake is cut @ 4" on a glittered green back and is framed
by a 3" circle (PS) that is cut to fit the card front.
Small snowflakes from a Fiskars punch and my ever-present
MS branch punch accent the main image.

The full front makes this card ever more inviting and gives the designer
more room for the designs.

I used a double sided paper from KC and used the opposite side
to decorate the inside folds.
The edges were rounded and inked in Java,
while the messages were stamped in dark green from a birthday set
I had purchased @ JoAnn Crafts.

More coordinating snowflakes and branches add to the inside of this card.
A handwritten message will go on the back and
can be displayed easily just by opening.

This is a very rich looking card in muted greens and tans.

Happy New Year!

I made this card front to hold two small pictures
of us celebrating the big event.
I'm not sure what I'll do with it, but I loved the New Year's Baby!

Warm and aromatic.....

This image is so much fun, and will be used for a
February birthday.
It definitely works for all of us "temperature challenged" women!

The front sentiment was generated in WORD,
and the image background was hand-pieced for accent.

The inside was embossed with the CB swirls folder,
a flourish and brown ribbon were added for some bling,
and the sentiment -
Look on the bright side,
You can reheat your coffee with hot flashes!
The perfect card to make someone smile!

Snow Fun for your Birthday!

Good Friday morning everyone!
Heres a cute little snowman card that I
made for my SIL's January birthday.

I used a Double-Dutch fold for this card base.
Since Christmas is over and the New Year has begun,
I chose shades of muted greens with just a touch of red.

The small snowflakes are a Fiskars punch and are decorated
with a small green gemstone.
The silver metallic branches are my favorite MS punch.

The backdrop for the snoman is the "snowman snowflake" from WICO.
This has been cut regular @ 3" and in blackout @ 3 1/4, 3 1/2, and 3 3/4"
It is decorated with just a hint of glitter for more sparkle.

This adorable little snowman starts out as an oval from PS
which has been inked on the edges.
This funky face is a Peachy Keen stamp that has been colored with
markers and pencils.
The winter hat is from WW and is cut @ 2 1/2" with the layers
being embossed with the swiss dots CB folder.
This little guy has also been "popped" for dimension.

The inside of the card opens up to reveal a matted
birthday sentiment using the FY cart and the centerpoint feature.
The snowflakes are repeated from the front and the open green mat
will hold a specail message for the recipient.

This card was Snow Much Fun to make
and I do hope you enjoy it as much as I did designing it.

Snow much fun LO

Although we didn't have any snow for Christmas,
we made the best of it !
This paper came from the DCWV Christmas Stack.

Another Christmas Dinner photo from 2011.
This time Maddix is introduced to turkey...
as you can see, it was not a big hit!

Cuts are from Campin' Critters and Doodlecharms.

Thanksgiving LO

The next installments in Lil Maddix' book are our family dinners
for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We take the traditional family photo, but this year held a magical event...
it was Maddix' first taste of solid food!
The grand food of choice....sweet potatoes!  The first taste was a little
puzzling, but then he drove right in!

The second page is a collage of the events when my Mom went to visit the
weekend before Christmas.  Although I am absent, there are 3 generations shown in the photo,
and I think this will be a great keepsake for Maddix as he grows older.
